FESTIVALS OF SANTA MARIA MADALENA 2020

This year the festival of the patron saint of Loivos da Ribeira was quite different from previous years. But in order not to let the date go unnoticed, the junta made its help available and together with the Fabriqueira Commission, in order to maintain the tradition, a simple procession was improvised with the patron saint on the junta's car, which he traveled the streets of the parish, bringing to the devotees the presence of his saint of devotion.

MOTHER'S DAY

This year due to Covid 19, many things have changed; one of them the way the mother's day was celebrated. The board did not forget the mothers of the parish, taking each flower to the house with proper care, a flower to mark the day.
OPENING OF THE NICHO OF N. SENHORA DE FÁTIMA IN ARUFE
On the 14th of August at 20.00h, the niche of N. Senhora de Fátima was inaugurated and the requalification of the surrounding space. Father Filipe, parish priest of the parish, members of the parish council and the general population were present at the site. A pleasant space for reflection and prayer was created for all our residents and why not also for visitors and for those passing through.

SOLIDARY WALK 2019

The Union of Parishes of Loivos da Ribeira e Tresouras, organized on May 25, 2019 a solidarity walk in favor of the Portuguese League against cancer, the northern nucleus. There were 300 registrations and about 150 people took part in the walk, on a 6 km route through parish roads and streets, with the support of volunteer firefighters from Santa Marinha do Zêzere. The donations raised reverted to this same institution. We will continue this initiative, as helping this cause is of relevant importance for everyone.

CHEESE OR HAIR FAIR 2019

The Queijo or Calvos fair, formerly also known as the Falachas and Queijos fair, is held on March 25 of each year, maintaining its tradition since the 18th century. In this event, various products can be tasted and purchased, from cheeses, smokehouses, traditional sweets from the region and wines from local producers, with special emphasis on the "Avesso" grape variety. Traditional beer can also be tasted and purchased. As an animation, the performance of several musical groups is usual. The people say "as a legend says" that this is the first day of snacks.
